The clothing district is usually our last stop before we leave home, and this trip was no exception. Santeen Alley is were we usually go, it consists of cheap clothes and even cheaper knock off designer items. Its a lot of fun, because you can find things there no one else can find. Several old buildings are run by small bodegas, but the architecture is breath taking.

YET ANOTHER DETOUR...DOWNTOWN L.A

Santeen Alley is were we usually go, it consists of cheap clothes and even cheaper knock off designer items. Its a lot of fun, because you can find things there no one else can find. Life is a beach...
Well here are some pics of our detour.... We love Santa Monica and Venice beach area. Its one of our favorite places. For it being January it unusually hot as the Santa Anna winds were blowing the heat of the fired to southern cali. It was 85 degrees when we visited.
Every time we visit the beach we always feel like we need to live a healthier lifestyle. Everyone is in shape and living such a laid back life. I hope to retire here.... I love Santa Monica...
THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH....
Its that time of year, again- In January, we take vacation every year. We don't always go to the same place but the time off is usually the same. This year we decided to go to Disneyland and back home. However, we took a detour before we left California. It was a lot of fun,the kids got on man more rides this time. We rode almost every single ride and a few more than once. My favorite ride is Space Mountain. This year my boy decided he was going to take the plunge and ride Space Mountain- and needless to say HE LOVED IT!!!. We rode on it 5 times- but i have to tell you I think they have different speeds for some of the rides depending on the wait time-because as the last few riders before the park closed we were going REALLY FAST- i felt like my earring were going to fly off. Talia FINALLY rode star tours- as she freaked out when riding on it when she was little. She thought it was a little lame....All in all we had a GREAT TIME.. and as usual we were sad to leave.

MY DAD... Desiderio Vega 1/14/1950-3/9/2007

My dad would have been 59 years old this year. I still miss him very much. Our family is still not complete without him. He will be gone for almost 2 years, but it feel like an eternity without him. We are surrounded by his things and haunted by his occasional smell from belongings he left behind. His smile and laughter fresh in our minds and generosity left in our hearts are constant reminders of how much we miss him. His things still lay in his room as he left them and the door remains closed so I can close my eyes and pretend he is still here. I never realized what a huge gaping hole he would leave in our lives, until he was gone. My thoughts of him getting old always consisted of him playing with his great grandchildren-bouncing on his lap. I pictured him with white hair and a cane, because i use to tease him about being "over the hill" when i was young. I also pictured myself prepared for his passing, as i'd be "over the hill" and taking care of him. Little did i know that he was going to be young, strong, and so full of life when he passed. I foolishly thought i had more time. So many things i wish i could have told him. So many things i wish i would have taken the time to know about him. All I'm left with is the memories that I have and this gaping hole.
However my dad was never without a sense of humor.... through some of his belongings we found out how child-like my dad was. He collected gun belts, boots, cowboy hats, wranglers, and a stockpile of western books. He collected caps, empty pepsi bottles, nfl cowboy parifialia, and tools-ohhh so many tools. He also left a grandchild who not only taken on so many of his physical traits but acts like a mirror image of him sometimes. That stubborn "i'm always right" arguement and smirk -when he is :)-. That big and sentimental heart you don't expect from someone that big. I think his grandaughter has that loving and giving trait like no other.
We as a family miss and love my dad... hope to see you soon dad...
Serjio turns 14 years old...
VENICE BEACH-

FOOTBALL SIDEWINDERS -
1 YEAR OLD
AS A BABY.....

On December 4, 1994- My little serjio was born- he weighted 6lbs 11oz and 22 inches long. He was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. I remember the first time i saw his beautiful face and turned to his dad, who had tears in his eyes, and said "he looks just like you".
Needless to say, that was the smallest my son would ever be.... He gained and grew almost immediately when most infants would fluctuate in lbs. Dr. Woo-woo said on his first visit "he's gonna be a big boy". Now i'm not sure if he tells that to all parents, but he hit the nail on the head with our little monster. He grew and grew...we went through good times and bad... from bullies to fatal girlfriends.... from eyeglasses to sz 14 mens shoes... and from 6lbs 11oz and 22inches to 190lbs an 6ft 1in tall. We are so VERY PROUD of our growing boy... who is now a teen.

some time ago...
Its been a long time since i've blogged,k and alot has happened :) So here goes....
FOOTBALL- Well the boys did not win the championship, but fought the good fight!!! Serjio met alot of new kids and really did not want football to end. Football consumed so much of our time we KIND OF felt the same. However, the team did play a Tuscon team after the season had ended and won- so at least they ended there time together with a win.
CHEARLEADING- Talia's coach bailed on them at the last minute- which in turn caused Coach Yvette (not me) to combine 2 squads and teach them a new routine in 2 weeks. This sounds like a decent amount of time- but it really isn't. They didn't win competition, but did a GREAT JOB with there routine and worked there little hearts out. For as much as Talia hated cheerleading, she eventually grew to really enjoy it. And as she cried on our way home from competition, when asked if she would want to do it again... she promptly answered "yes".
